BRIT Award Winners Ezra Collective Join Basement Jaxx at Live at Bute Park!

BRIT Award’s Best British Group Ezra Collective have been announced to join Basement Jaxx’s headline reunion date at Cardiff’s Bute Park this August.

Cardiff is set for a joyous dance-infused summer spectacular as BRIT Award-winning Ezra Collective have been announced as the support for electronic music legends Basement Jaxx at this year's Live at Bute Park.

On a permanent ascent since their Mercury Prize win in 2023. Ezra Collective have long since cemented their place as trailblazers in the UK music scene. The London-based quintet have redefined contemporary jazz by masterfully fusing its intricate rhythms with elements of grime, Afrobeat, and hip-hop. Their innovative sound and electrifying performances have garnered widespread acclaim, culminating in monumental achievements.

Last week they became the first ever Jazz act to win the BRIT Award for Best British Group. They capped off the night with another landmark achievement as they also became the first-ever jazz group to perform at the BRIT Awards in its 45-year history as they performed an electrifying melody, culminating in a collaboration with Jorja Smith.

The group’s momentum has been unstoppable, with 2024 seeing them headline London’s OVO Wembley Arena, a sold-out 25-date European tour, and a Latin American tour. Now looking ahead the group are set for a significant slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

After a decade away from the main stages, headliners Basement Jaxx are making a triumphant return with a series of headline festival appearances in 2025, bringing back their legendary, euphoric live experience. While many of their contemporaries have leaned on technology, Basement Jaxx have always embraced a maximalist approach. Their live shows are a vibrant explosion of singers, MCs, musicians, and dancers, creating a "life-affirming cavorting carnival of music."

Basement Jaxx's Felix Buxton expressed his excitement, saying, "After a few years DJing round the globe, it’ll be great to return to the live stage and the Live Show Experience. To connect to people with life-affirming energy and give people a great time."

Starting in 1994, with underground EPs and parties in South London, Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe's unique blend of house, garage, punk attitude, and global influences quickly gained a cult following. Their 1999 debut album 'Remedy' spawned hits like 'Red Alert', 'Rendez Vu', and 'Jump & Shout', while 2001's 'Rooty' delivered the iconic anthem 'Where's Your Head At'.

From the beginning, Basement Jaxx's live shows were a sensation, evolving into spectacular festival experiences, including headline slots at Glastonbury (on The Other Stage and later the Pyramid Stage), Coachella, and Hyde Park.

“It’s great our hits are still very much alive with younger generations,” says Felix, “so we connect across the age range – and it’ll be great to pop in a couple of bangers from our forthcoming album too.”

While Basement Jaxx have remained festival favourites as DJs for the past decade, they're now ready to bring back the full Technicolor live experience. As Felix Buxton puts it, “It feels like 2025 is the beginning of a new era for many and I think that’s probably true for Basement Jaxx too.”

Rounding out the incredible lineup is Bristol-born DJ and record producer Eats Everything, who will open the show.
