GET TO KNOW:
LAURAN HIBBERD

Isle Of Wight’s exciting and witty new rock star in the making Lauran Hibberd has just come back from playing her first Glastonbury and is getting set to release her debut E.P. ‘Everything Is Dogs’ on September 20th, we caught up with her to find out more.

Hey Lauran! For someone who hasn’t heard your music before, what can they expect?

High energy, real life horror stories. 90’s influenced slacker pop. If you like the movie 10 things I hate about you, you’ll probably be into it.

When you’re not rocking out on stage and recording, what do you get up to?

I’m probably driving around in my famous white van, thinking of things to write about. I’m also a wannabe skater, and a big fan of pooches.

Tell me about the Hoochie video, was it as fun to film as it looks?

It was 30 percent fun, 70 percent outrageously awkward. It was probably the best day of my life really, honestly never felt more at home in a group of outfits in my life ha ha. I was surprised at how easy I fell into character, I watched a lot of Babestation in rehearsal.

You’ve just come back from playing your first Glastonbury, how did that feel?

It was amazing! Probably one of life highlights, after being born and being the speed bounce champion in year seven. I’d never been to Glastonbury before, so for my first time as a punter and performer it was pretty much a dream come true for me. I will never get over it.

What have been some other highlights this year?

My headline tour in May was up there for me, as well as touring with the amazing Hippo Campus and hearing Annie Mac play my songs on my Radio 1 drive home.

What can we expect from your upcoming EP?

It feels quite coming of age to me, a lot of these songs define that inbetween adult phase for me. There’s a song called ‘Shark Week’ that is pretty damn sad, but my god does it get me in the gut. It’s my favourite track on the EP. There’s also a secret bonus track on the vinyl, not so secret now ha!

Following on from that, What else can we expect for 2019, any tour dates?

YES! A tour is being announced very soon, and I can’t wait. See you there?

Definitely, We’ll see you there!
